Is FreshCap Lion's Mane Good?
Fruiting body, 14:1 extract, standardized to 31% beta-glucan (an immune-supporting carbohydrate found in mushrooms), the only Lion's Mane brand on this site that publishes a specific beta-glucan figure. The brand says the product is third-party verified but doesn't name the lab or extraction method.
What the label discloses
FreshCap's own product page lists the ingredient as "Organic Lion's Mane Extract (Hericium erinaceus) (Fruiting Body)," at 1,000 mg per serving, described as a 14:1 extract, equivalent to 14,000 mg of raw mushroom. The label states this extract is "standardized to contain 31% Beta Glucan." Of the six other Lion's Mane brands compared on this site, none publish a specific beta-glucan percentage, several name a testing approach (in-house or third-party) without a compound figure attached, or disclose whole-mushroom weight without an extract ratio at all. FreshCap's 31% figure is a more specific disclosure on that one axis.
On testing, the product page states the product is "3rd-party verified for safety and consistency," but does not name the testing lab or link a certificate of analysis on the page itself. That's a weaker disclosure than a brand like Double Wood, which names its outside lab directly. The product page also does not state whether the 14:1 extraction is water-based, alcohol-based, or a dual-extraction process, only the ratio and resulting beta-glucan percentage. Listed ingredients are the Lion's Mane extract and a Pullulan capsule shell; no other fillers are disclosed.
Worth knowing: a published beta-glucan percentage and a named testing lab are two different disclosures. FreshCap discloses the former and not the latter; Double Wood discloses the latter and not the former. Neither page lets you check both at once.
